Avocado Bacon Burger with Fried Egg Lettuce Wraps

Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 4 large lettuce leaves
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • 1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • 2. In the same skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it is browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 3. In a separate non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your desired doneness (we recommend sunny-side up or over-easy for a runny yolk).
  • 4. Assemble the lettuce wraps by placing a large lettuce leaf on a plate. Top with a quarter of the cooked ground beef, a slice of cheddar cheese, a slice of tomato, a few slices of red onion, a few slices of avocado, 2 slices of bacon, and a fried egg.
  • 5. Carefully wrap the lettuce around the filling to create a lettuce wrap burger. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
  • 6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

The Avocado Bacon Burger with Fried Egg using lettuce wraps instead of buns has a rich history rooted in the modern health-conscious food movement. This innovative twist on a classic burger originated in California, where chefs sought to create a low-carb, gluten-free alternative to the traditional burger. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in trendy, health-focused eateries across the country. The key to perfecting this dish lies in sourcing high-quality, organic ingredients and mastering the art of balancing flavors and textures within the lettuce wrap.
