  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Add the cold cubed butter and mix with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Place the tart pan on a baking sheet and set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices in the prepared tart shell, slightly overlapping them in a circular pattern.
  • Brush the beaten egg over the edges of the tart crust.
  • Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • In a small saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of apricot preserves over low heat until melted. Brush the melted preserves over the warm apple tart.
  • Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
