- 1/2 cup of short-grain rice
- 4 cups of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of water
- Ground cinnamon for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 2 cups of whole milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
- Stir in the remaining 2 cups of whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for another 20 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 1/4 cup of water. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the rice pudding, stirring constantly, and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the pudding thickens further.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sütlaç cool for a few minutes.
- Divide the sütlaç into serving bowls and sprinkle with ground cinnamon for garnish.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy the creamy and delicious Turkish rice pudding!
