The cookies gained popularity during World War II when ingredients like butter were rationed, making peanut butter a popular substitute. Today, these cookies are a staple in bakeries and homes across the country. Chefs and home bakers often add their own twist to the recipe, using high-quality chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter for the best results. In recent years, gluten-free and vegan versions have also gained popularity, catering to a wider audience.
