Magic Bars, also known as Seven Layer Bars, originated in the United States in the mid-20th century. These delectable dessert bars are a popular treat at potlucks, picnics, and bake sales. The history of Magic Bars is a bit mysterious, but they gained widespread popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. The bars typically consist of layers of graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and nuts, all baked to golden perfection. Chefs and home bakers across the country have put their own spin on this classic recipe, making it a beloved and versatile dessert. Today, the best versions of Magic Bars can be found in traditional American bakeries and dessert shops, where they continue to delight taste buds with their irresistible combination of flavors and textures.
