Instructions

  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and transfer it to a 9-inch tart pan. Trim any excess pastry hanging over the edges.
  • Arrange the apple slices in a circular pattern over the puff pastry, slightly overlapping each other.
  • In a saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns into a golden caramel color.
  • Add 1/4 cup of unsalted butter to the caramel and stir until melted. Carefully pour in 1/4 cup of heavy cream while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Pour the caramel sauce over the arranged apples, making sure to coat them evenly. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of sliced almonds on top.
  • Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
