Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of pork ribs
  • 1 cup of BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of paprika, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to create a dry rub.
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Rub the dry rub all over the ribs, covering them evenly.
  • Place the ribs on a baking sheet and cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones.
  • While the ribs are baking, prepare the BBQ glaze by mixing 1 cup of BBQ sauce with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is slightly thickened.
  • Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees F.
  • Brush the BBQ glaze all over the ribs, then return them to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and sticky.
  • Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs have a rich history dating back to the early days of American barbecue. This beloved dish is a staple in Southern cuisine, with its roots in the deep South where pitmasters would slow-cook pork ribs over open flames, basting them with a tangy, sweet barbecue glaze. The technique of slow-cooking the ribs allows the meat to become tender and juicy, while the glaze caramelizes to create a mouthwatering, sticky coating. Today, renowned chefs and barbecue joints across the country continue to perfect the art of BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs, with some of the best versions found in the barbecue meccas of Memphis, Kansas City, and Texas. The key to achieving the perfect BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs lies in the balance of smoky, savory flavors and the right amount of sweetness in the glaze. Whether it's a traditional dry rub or a secret family recipe for the glaze, attention to detail and patience are essential for creating this iconic dish. For those looking to try a unique twist on this classic, experimenting with different wood chips for smoking or incorporating regional barbecue styles can elevate the flavor profile of the ribs. Whether you're a fan of fall-off-the-bone tenderness or a sticky, finger-licking glaze, BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs are a timeless favorite that continues to bring people together over a shared love for good food and great barbecue.
