Dessert
American

Bananas Foster is a classic New Orleans dessert that originated in the 1950s at Brennan's Restaurant. Created by Chef Paul Blangé, this decadent dish features ripe bananas sautéed in a buttery, sugary, and rum-infused sauce. The dish is then flambeed tableside for a dramatic presentation. The addition of a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream adds a delightful contrast to the warm, caramelized bananas. Today, the best version of this dish can still be found at Brennan's, where it's prepared with precision and flair. The key to nailing this dessert is achieving the perfect balance of sweetness and boozy richness in the sauce.
