Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix 1/8 cup of each shredded cheese with a few drops of red food coloring until the cheese is evenly colored. Repeat this process with the remaining colors, using yellow, green, and blue food coloring.
  • Spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the mixed colored cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
  • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown and the cheese is starting to melt.
  • Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread and colored cheese to make the rest of the rainbow grilled cheese sandwiches.
  • Serve and enjoy!
