American

The history of the cupcake dates back to the 19th century, with its first mention in American cookbooks. These delightful single-serving cakes gained popularity in the 21st century, becoming a staple in bakeries and home kitchens. Renowned chefs like Martha Stewart and Magnolia Bakery in New York City have contributed to the cupcake craze, introducing innovative flavors and designs. Today, the best versions of this treat can be found in artisanal bakeries across the globe, with emphasis on moist cake and decadent frosting. While traditional vanilla and chocolate flavors remain classics, unique variations like red velvet and salted caramel have also gained widespread acclaim.
