Ingredients
- 2 cups of cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 4 cups of broccoli florets, blanched
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Spread the blanched broccoli florets in the prepared baking dish. Top with the cooked chicken.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the broccoli and chicken, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of breadcrumbs with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the cheese layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
