Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Spread the blanched broccoli florets in the prepared baking dish. Top with the cooked chicken.
  • Pour the cheese sauce over the broccoli and chicken, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
