Garlic Broccoli and Cheese Casserole

Ingredients
- 4 cups of broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in 1 cup of milk and cook until the mixture thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season the cheese sauce with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Add the steamed broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir to coat the broccoli evenly.
- Transfer the broccoli and cheese mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top of the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the casserole is bubbly.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
