Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box of vanilla wafers (about 45 cookies)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup flour, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups of whole milk and 4 large egg yolks. Gradually whisk the milk mixture into the sugar mixture in the saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Let the pudding cool for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a trifle dish or a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the vanilla wafers, half of the sliced bananas, and half of the pudding. Repeat the layers with the remaining wafers, bananas, and pudding.
- In a medium bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the pudding.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. Enjoy the classic banana pudding!
